Cadmans lived in last white house on left going up Lamberhead Rd. Vinnie is eldest of 3 brothers , Vinnie , Alan and Albert.(there might have been a sister as well ?) I´m sure he used to run a lot of marathons for charity.
Albert was always a bit of a rum lad, anyone know where he is up to these days ?

Well spotted Mac.....Bert Cadman describes himself as a legend on Facebook !!
I could think of quite a few words to describe what he used to be like but "legend" didn´t spring to mind.
Maybe he is a reformed character, if so, fair play to him.

He was also on talking telephone numbers a good few years ago now in a double act Cadman and Willis. I know the family well and Vinny was well known for his comedy and tried to re invent himself a few times.... This show will be worth a watch

No one has mentioned the best partner he had and that was Cliff Barnes (went under name of Tony Drew) they called themselves Sense & Humour and were brilliant. Sadly Cliff died quite a few years ago but was a really good friend of ours

Like I said before, I saw Vinny in Wigan today, walking past Morrisons and the Market Hall actually and he was wearing that hat he wore in the program

I enjoyed that program because it was original and different

There was nothing original or different about him a typical looser needs to get a life and shrug that chip of his shoulder and grow up. A bit of work would have done him good.

Albert does not describe himself as a legend.
It is a 'page' that he has 'liked' called ... "i am from Wigan, therefore i am alegend"

mavis

The program wasn't only about Vinny, in fact I don't think most of those performers have done very well from their brief bit of fame, but I liked the quirky way the documentry was made, it was very English and it was a typical BBC2 Arty type of program

On about New Faces back then I never watched it because it was (DIRE} what a load of crap,,,, contrast that New Faces Final to the final of the X Factor last weekend at the Wembley Arena and I don't think there is any comparison at all ....

I remember watching New Faces in the 1970's when Tony Hatch and Micky Most were on the panel ....

It was crap then too

I don't 'like' the page. I am not a legend.
Are you 'Albert'?

Very sad to read this thread. Vinny Cadman and his family had a hard life. He was talented in many ways and like a lot of comedians, was complex. He still has family who love and miss him. He may not have quite hit the big time but he came very close and would have but for his health. People from 'the white houses' and surrounding areas, Norley Hall, Worsley Hall, Marsh Green etc have long been looked down on, especially his age group when times were very, very different. My hubby grew up in the White Houses. We should celebrate people like Vinny who dealt with many challenges to get as far as he did. I remember him meeting Oliver Reed, Freddie Starr and others... RIP Vinny, you talented lad. xx
